Environmentalists support Simon Richardson for Mayor

Mayoral candidate Simon Richardson is passionate about our region. He says “Byron Shire is a wonderful place to live, let’s keep it that way. The Byron Shire we know and love didn’t come easily, keeping it a special place will not be easy either.  I am committed to protecting the area.  As a teacher and a father of 2 young children I want them to have the experience of the Shire that I have had and more.  I want to see the Shire enhanced in terms of employment, education,  training opportunities and sustainable infrastructure.”

Byron Shire is unique in many ways including the great care residents have taken to protect and maintain our wildlife and habitats. Our marine life is special as are our flora and fauna. The Greens have ecological sustainability as the first of four principles that guide us. We’ve worked with the diverse communities of Byron Shire over two decades to protect and preserve our unique environment. Hear what local environmentalists are saying about Simon Richardson:

Libby Caskey

22 year old surfer and environmental activist

As an environmentally active resident of Byron Shire, I will be voting for Simon to ensure our local marine environment is protected and the voice of the youth is heard.

Liane Simons

Transition Byron Shire

Simon has supported our efforts to raise community awareness about sustainable living issues. He understands the importance of responding to climate change and improving housing affordability.

Greg Dutton

Mullum Community Gardens and Farmers Markets

I too have a vision for our region: independent, self-sufficient and a great place for our kids to stay and make a good life. That’s why I back Simon 100%

Heather Hartford

Environmentalist

Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) is the latest catch cry.  The E part is a sad 3rd.   I support all 3 equally. Simon will do the right thing for our children.

Dan Schreiber

Starseed Garden Foundation

We support Simon Richardson as Mayor in alignment with our vision for growing a resilient community in times of rapid change.
